I keep searching "wireless" sepeakers for surround sound, but when I get them they are really not wireless, I have to hook them to a "box" in the back of the room, the only convience is the wires do not have to be ran from the front of the room to the back, but there are still wires, so how can this be wireless? Are there any true wireless speakers out there?

  1. Currently no truly wireless solution exists for speakers.  There are several reasons for this.  Speakers require an amplified signal to create sound, thus the speakers must have power.  The obvious solution would be to give the speakers batteries.  This has been tried and has failed miserably.  The sound is crippled and the batteries must be replaced in annoyant frequence.  Furthermore, the RF signal used to transmit the audio signal is prone to interference from other rf sources, whether it be radio waves, your wireless network at home, and rf-based remote controls.  This causes a huge loss in audio quality in most home conditions.

When considering wireless solutions, know that there is a significant drop in audio quality, and reliability.
