  1. download.com is a pretty good sight.

  2. If you're looking for the best then you want either Avira or Avast.  Both have high (but similar detection rates).  AVG isn't that good honestly.  It has above-par but not as good as Avira or Avast.  I'd stay away from it unless you absolutely needed to go for it:

    1) Freware - Avira:

    2) Freeware - Avast:

    3) Freeware - AVG:

For more freeware check out the link below, it has all the best freeware programs (or trialware) that you can get on the internet.  Remember, antivirus alone isn't enough, a good anti-spyware and firewall are musts (Threatfire will do for anti-spy).

  3. Get the free version of AVG

    www.free.avg.com

    =D

  4. Karenware.com, has many programs for computers.

  5. Avast.com is a good FREE one.  Take your time and read the instructions, Download and run.

  6. http://free.avg.com/

  7. www.avast.com

Avast HOME edition is NO DIFFERENT from the pro except for the script blocking which is handled by vista and xp service pack 2 anyway. If you look on their website, they have a brain as they state  the easiest way to rid the world of viruses is the give out free protection.

Avast also makes a crc database of all your files when your computer is idle so it can restore critical documents and such that you could never get back in case you get infected. If you do somehow get infected, it also has the option to scan the computer BEFORE the computer starts up. When the computer is fully loaded and the virus/trojan is infected in a critial system daemon such as winlogon or explorer, no antivirus program can remove a virus that has gotten past to this point; AVAST DOES!

I have never gotten a virus past avast whereas I have gotten HUNDREDS past AVG, Norton, Mcaffee, Computer associates, and others I have rigorously tested.

AVG sucks so bad it's not funny. The daemon does not run as a service and if you use the newest version that does, it is really buggy. This means that a virus can easily disable AVG then get into the computer.

  8. http://free.avg.com/ or http://www.grisoft.com/

  9. The lady that just bought my old computer said she has been using Avast forever and it has never been a problem.  It is free.  She is like the third person that has mentioned that to me.  I only use Norton because it comes with my internet service for free, and I think it is o.k., but I am even thinking of trying it.

  10. umm...its only like forty bucks and last like 2 years so if i were you i'd get norton or mcafee or something like that so u know it'll work...stuff for free may not work..

like the old saying..."if its too good to be true...it probably is."

u may think ur getting good  protection but u may not be...

    good luck!

    : )

oh and maybe if u go onto a virus protection website u can get a free trial?

  11. AVG and Avast! are good free anti-virus protection programs. Also, check with your ISP and see if they provide Internet security, usually free or low cost.

  12. if u have a windows computer and u have a virus go to restore computer under accessories and system tools.

Pick a date that your comp was working virus free and . . . .Restore

Then your computer should be virus free

  13. You can get AVG free edition or download the one that your isp provides.
