I need your help about tax?

I am a legal residence here , Not a citizen yet.

I didnt make enough to have to file my taxes. Now the immigration asked to show my last 2 years tax return...

I want to explain my case to them. but my limit english. I dont know how to write a letter.

Anyone can help me out?

  1. I presume you hold a green card based on your information.  You can make copies of the W-2 forms for the past two years that show how much money you made.  Explain to immigration that you have been working but have not made sufficient money to require filing tax returns.  Include a copy of the W-2 forms with your letter to them.  If you have any withholdings on the W-2 forms, you may be entitled to a refund.  If so, it would pay to file tax returns for the two years in question.


  2. You are a legal residence?  

    You can prepare and file tax returns even though they are not required.  It shouldn't be a big problem to do and will make Immigration happy.
