!!!I need your help regarding eating out in London!!!?

I have just moved here and looking for your recommendations as to where to get a good meal in this city.

All suggestions are greatly appreciated!

time out london has loads of listings.

My all time fav place for a quick lunch is accross from the british museum.  It is called Forum Cafe.  I just like the decor and the people.

Pret is another great sandwich shop.

Chinatown has some really good places to get dinner.

That's like asking where can I get a good beer in Bavaria? London is a diverse metropolis teeming with people and the establishments that would like to feed them. That said here are some places I've found during my month and a half here. They are not fancy but very good.

Fish and chips- Fish Club, St. John's Hill, Battersea. You can either order the traditional battered cod or select one of the myriad of fish varieties from their menu. The seared tuna with black bean aioli and mash is my favorite. Thanks to them I'm hooked on Sticky Toffee Pudding for life.

Lebanese- Ranoush Juice, multiple locations. In a word- brilliant. This local chain offers a variety of savoury mezze, wraps, and entrees covering the spectrum of Lebanese cuisine. Wash your shwarma down with some freshly squeezed juice. A great meal for under 10 quid.

Hamburgers-Gourmet Burger Kitchen (GBK), multiple locations. Serving the finest burgers in London. When you're there opt for the thick cut crisps. You won't regret it.

Turkish- Tas, Bourough. Getting a little bit more pricey now these guys know their way around a lamb. The live guitar player was a nice touch at dinner.

British- Rules, Covent Garden. Everything your grandmother used to make. From sherperds pie to treacle tart. Game is their specialty. Bring a high credit limit as it is not cheap.

American BBQ- Bodeans, multiple locations. Not as good as what you'd find in North Carolina but a very competent version of a Southern tradition. The pork is a standout here.

These are only a handful of memorable meals. I could go on and on and I haven't even been here that long. The easiest way to find a decent restaurant is by walking into a nearby bookstores local section and picking up a dining guide. You don't have to buy it just flip through and commit a few interesting sounding ones to memory. Time Out publishes very comprehensive guides but there are plenty more. Happy Hunting.

I was in London last week and had a pizza in Fuel in Covent Garden. It's the one with outside seating next to Covent Garden Market. (Opposite Lloyds TSB)

It has to be the best pizza I have ever had as it had a really tasty topping (Sweet Chilli Chicken) and had a really thin base.

I hope if you go there it will be as good as the pizza I had............

PS - Pasta also good there!!!

I don't know where you live but there is a really good armenian delhi/ restaurant near gloucester road tube station that is really good for lunch at the weekends, and it's cheap too. I think it's called Jacobs.

It depends on what quality and tastiness of food you are used to. I haven't found anything good enough to even start comparing it to my home country, thats unless you wanna pay £80 per meal!

Charlotte Street has lovely bars and retaurants- nearest tube is Goodge Street.  I love it down there, try it

Hi, Lots of great places in the West end - Piccadilly Circus, Soho etc.

West End Kitchen in Paton Street. Really good value, 3 courses for £5. Good old British cooking, like Cottage Pie and Apple Crumble.

Waga Mamma's is great for good Chinese food. You can get a massive bowl of noodles for £6, sit on benches, great busy atmosphere. Your find these every where, the one in Leicester Square is fab.

Nandos, in Frith Street, Soho is the best Portuguese Chicken restaurant in London. You can have it as hot as your mouth can take and a meal for 2 will cost no more than £15, inc soft drinks.

My absolute favourite place to eat is near to Covent Garden, in Neal's Yead. It's called Food for Thought. It's a best kept secret, please try it, it's mega cheap, very good food and fantastic puddings. You will not be disappointed. Eat in or take away.

If you like sushi, go to itsu. I think it's in camden - the food is delicious and the restaurant is really nice, plus all the staff are friendly. My favourite restaurant!!

do you like indian cuisine? there is a small called kahna peena. london has great indian food, but this one is the best that i've had. its small, but nice. authentic. get the chili paneer. you make it a whole meal.

Its a tough question as there is pretty much any food you can think of available in London.

A lot will depend on your budget, if your looking to splash the cash then try:

- The Ivy

- Claridges

- Coq d'argent (number 1 poultry)

- Vertigo (tower 42 in the city)

Otherwise there are plenty of decent places around the west end but try and go away from the main streets as they are complete tourist traps and you will be ripped off.

If you fancy curry then either brick lane (east) or Drummond street (near Euston) have numerous and decent places otherwise the Mint Leaf in Haymarket is class.
