Hey you,

I'm Chris from Germany.

tomorrow I will have a conversation for my High school year abroad.

One of my tasks will be, that I will have to write a letter to my host family.

What would be good points in this letter ?

What would make you happy / laugh ?

In what kind of things would you be interested ?

What do you want to know about me ?

Thanks

  1. Where will you be living, Chris from Germany? That might help me answer your question.

If you will be living in the United States, definitely start your letter the way you started your question! "Hey you" is not usually used to begin a letter written by fluent English speakers, but it is comical (funny) and feels relaxed. Say that you are looking forward to meeting them (the host family). Ask about the members of the family and their ages and interests. Ask about the town that they live in. Ask what their favorite things to do are. Then start talking about yourself. Tell them how old you are and what interests you have (like literature, music, sports, or films). Talk about your experience in English and why you applied for study abroad. Tell them if you have met anybody from their city or country and what your impressions were (try to stay positive). Tell them about the things that you will miss most in Germany, and tell them about what you are looking forward to the most in your host city.

That should be a good start. Best of luck to you in your studies abroad!
