In my local community I am starting an endowment to buy bread at a local food bank that I volunteer weekly for. What an endowment does is the interest from the money in the bank and pays for what you want to buy that way. The money I need to earn is $195000 to have enough bread for 200 families per week. I am going to be a senior in high school in august. Do you have any fund raising ideas

  1. a talent show, including the people who receive food from the food bank and others in the community (and anyone else who wants to participate, of course).  I think you might be surprised at how much talent you will find, especially with the kids.

  2. Candy bars, magazines, T-shirts, Car Wash, Bake Sale, Benefit concert if you know any hometown bands that will play for free. Offer some food drinks and the band for $6 a persone.

  3. Pampered chef does charity sales, I liked the idea of the dinner or luncheon, but make it $50 per plate.  You might try the talent show idea, but make it a battle of the bands, and charge an admission fee.  Try to do it in connection with a local radio or television station, or even a local college that has it's own radio station.  50/50 raffles are good, where people buy tickets for the raffle, but the prize is half of what you make on the raffle tickets, and the other half goes to the charity, sometimes people donate their half back to the charity.  You could do the raffle in connection with the battle of the bands and sell donated refreshments at the battle, and also have a donation box.  Make sure that you make some sort of "thermometer" or maybe a huge poster of a loaf of bread that you color in as you total the donations.  If you get your high school friends involved, a battle of the bands will take off, especially if you involve a local college and/or radio station.  Lots of press is key.
