I need your opinions about my baby names!?

If we have a boy: Xavier Joseph Newman.

If we have a girl: Nondys Jayne Newman.

My hubby's wanted a little boy named Xavier from day one that I've known him. LOL. And I wanted to include his name as the middle name.

Nondus, was his mother's name, passed away last April and we'd like to honor her by naming the baby after her. I've always liked the name Jayne as a middle name. The only thing that I'd change with the way Nondus spelled her name is spelling it Nondys. The only problem I'm having is that I can't find any name meaning for Nondus. Can anyone help?

And what are your opinions about my baby names? ANY input would be welcome as long as you aren't rude! Thanks!

  1. The boy's name sounds good and I like that suggestion of Nondys Joy.  I don't much care for Nondy or Nondys either, but  your daughter could go by Joy and that's a lovely name. It's happy and easy to spell.

  2. i think Nondys is beautiful actually but she may be teased in school. make it a middle name to save a few days that ur daughter comes home crying. try: Camilla Nondys! i like ur boys name alot!

  3. If you wanted to honor your mother-in-law, you could still do it as a middle name and pick something else for the first name. Your daughter will thank you when she is older.

I like Xavier Joesph if it's a boy.

  4. I like Xavier Joseph. Maybe you could use Nondys as the middle name and still honor his mom.

  5. Love them both!!!  Xavier is one of my favorite boy names!

  6. i am totaly not being rude im just wondering how you pronounce Nondys...its unique. i kinda like it.

  7. I love the boy's name - but the girl's is a little on the unique side for my taste.  But, hey, it's not my business what other people name their children, and most children grow into their names.  I think it's a beautiful thing to name children in honor of dearly departed family members (or living ones for that matter).  You could use the name Nondys as a middle name if you're extremely concerned about the effects it could have on her.

All I can find about the word/name Nondys is that it comes from the word nondystrophic which is a form of muscular disease :

Nondystrophic myotonia: A group of rare diseases characterized by a muscle disorder where the voluntary muscles are slow to relax after movement.

  8. i love Xavier joseph newman... has a certian ring 2 it.

  9. Hmm, Nondys might get made fun of...  It reminds me a lot of "jaundice"

Anyway, I'm cool with unique names, just make sure you don't sacrifice beauty for uniqueness

  10. Forget looking for a meaning in Nondys, it's meaning stems from the family ties.

Instead, slip the meaningful name in the middle.  Try Joy.  Nondys Joy Newman.  I like that a lot, and your daughter will realize that "Joy" is how you felt when you named her.

  11. I agree, Joy Nondys sounds nice!

  12. Xavier Joseph  is a nice name for a boy .

Now for Nondus/Nondys. My research  came up with a few finds and even though  it was your mother -in -law's name it is actually attributed to the male gender  not female.

2ndly  If your late mother -in -law   was teased about her name  why  would you want to do that to your daughter?

You would pay more respect to your m-i-l by not doing the same thing to your daughter..because she herself  would probably tell you not too.

Jayne  or Joy are both lovely names  and  maybe your husbands mom had a middle name that would be more appropriate  and you would still be "honoring" her.

Just one more word.. We so often believe that by naming another family member after a grandparent, aunt , uncle  is the only way to honor them.

Another is to raise your child in a manner that  they would have been proud of .. To turn out a child  that is kind, respectful of others and one that has morals and values. I know I would want this more then to have one of my grandchildren named after me . What a wonderful tribute !
