Taylor took over the Black Caps’ leadership upon Daniel Vettori’s resignation after the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Cricket World Cup 2011 in the sub-continent. Under the middle-order batsman’s captaincy, the Kiwis won four out of 13 Tests, including historic
victories in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 and Sri Lanka.
His performances in the limited-over sport were not impressive at all; however, that has more to do with the lack of resources.
According to sources, Hesson, who replaced http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Taylor-c92915’s captaincy and played a huge role in convincing New Zealand Cricket (NZC) about the change of captaincy.
The coach told Taylor after the limited-over series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 about his sacking from the post. Hesson however, wanted the aggressive batsman to continue leading the team in Test cricket.
Taylor, while speaking to the Weekend Herald, expressed that the team management’s message was extremely disheartening for him, which made him decline the offer of retaining the Test captaincy.
“They told me I wasn't good enough as a captain, wasn't good enough for this team,” Taylor told the
Weekend Herald. “To hear I wasn't good enough was disappointing. It was interesting. I was offered the Test captaincy a couple of weeks [after the Sri Lanka meeting], when it was clear to me from conversations, they didn't want me at all.”
The cricketer from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wellington-c864 however, knew what was coming as the coach was never supportive of him.
“It wasn't huge shock,” the stylish batsman added. “Hesson never supported me through the whole time I'd been captain, but I was surprised by the timing.”
With more than seven thousand runs at the highest stage of the game, the 28-year-old cricketer is considered to be New Zealand’s best batsman at the present moment, having scored 14 centuries in international cricket.
