My folks live in the US but I emigrated to the UK four years ago. I always go back to visit my grandfather and my parents. I had a very scary experience this past time where I drove to a closed store just to throw away a bag at one of their trash bins. There were no "no trespassing" signs and I also got a drink out of the drink machine. I looked at the store sign because the last time I came it was under different management. Just then, a cop pulled up and asked me to put my hands on the wheel, then to get out of the car and put my hands on the car, THEN he put the cuffs on me and threw me in the back of the car while he checked things out. He said I looked suspicious. Then, he let me go.

Another summer (two years ago), I was stopped at Holden Beach, NC on my way at night, to get some ice cream at one of the ice cream shops. The police officer asked for ID. Since I wasn't driving, I told him I didn't have any. He gave me the third degree but eventually let me on my way.

Is the US getting more and more like a dictatorship as each month passes. I could not believe how easy it is to get into trouble over there, and just for throwing a bag away and walking without ID

  1. first off cops have always been like that.  Its basically their job to be pricks.  second, i am always out late at night and cops always see me.  Yet i have never been arrested.  You just have poor luck.

  2. not trying to be funny here, but what race are you?

  3. Thats what happens with more population...more private  areas and more off limets...where I live about the only place I can get away now is at the mall..

  4. Only one's who know what real freedom feel's the same way as you. The rest think destroying the constitution and invading other countries is freedom.

  5. Thats actually free of your government but in your case you probably aroused the suspicion of the cop for whatever reason.  I had the same thing happen to me once when i was driving an old truck through a rich neighborhood.  They pulled me over and grilled me for about an hour about where I was going and all that.  I told them what I was doing and they didn't seem to believe me.  They finally let me go but I was pissed.  I fought one of the 7 charges that they wrote me up for in court and won. It felt good but I had to pay for the other 6 but I won one and made that cop look real stupid.

  6. What part of no trespassing do you not understand? You are at the back of a store at night. DUH..........

Do you walk around the UK without ID? I think not...........

  7. Yes, welcome to a growing police state.  Police brutality will continue getting worse with martial law and such expansion of government/death to civil liberties laws like the Patriot Act.

  8. The whole world is getting like that.  I got in trouble a few years ago in the UK for making a joke about the queen having so much money and still having bad teeth.  At least in the U.S. people can insult the president and not go to jail, if they did then most of the people using the internet would be in jail.

  9. We dont have camras on every corner here , if your black or look like a mexican then thats probly why they checked you out.

  10. no that is freedom watching you apparently you look suspicious and you must knwo why. i am not sure but i ams ure I saw you i would be worried also. if you dont' like it here and worried move away from here we like our cutnry and its not like those overseas and they are bad ones so go and leave us alone we'd be protected where you are not go for it. like they say love it or leave it.

  11. Welcome to the Black man's world
