im just curious as to who is trying to be president, what they have to offer, who you think will win, and when is the day they tell everyone who it is

All of these things are right in front  of you, and you don't have to "follow politics" to know this. This is basic information. There are two major parties, and each has a nominee - Democratic nominee is Barack Obama (D- Illinois) and the Republican nominee is John McCain (R- Arizona). Votes are placed on Nov. 4th - by the end of the night there should be a projected winner and the results should be official within a day or two following the elections. If you want to know more about the candidates go to their website and read about them. You can also read news articles all over the internet regarding the election, candidates, and their platforms.
