  1. i've wondered and wanted to know the same,

i assumed that if your friends could do it, then they might teach you.

I think there are breakdancing classes,

But if you learn to take hip hop classes and gymnastics and then search certain break dancing moves on youtube and learn from there.

Basically you need to learn to incorporate everything you learnt and you need to be flexible.

  2. well some studios do offer breakin' but not all so it doesn't surprise me that you haven't heard of them. try to find some friends to teach you or buy some instructional videos off the internet. you can also just learn directly from the internet. http://www.bboy.org/forums is a great site. youtube can also be helpful but there are a lot of people out there that don't really know what they're doing yet they put up videos anyways so it's best to go to an actual breakin' site (like bboy.org) until you know what moves are supposed to look like.

i'd start off with some basic toprock moves, 6 step, 3 step, 2 step, 12 step, baby freeze, chair freeze, turtle freeze, and handglide freeze. this should get you off to a good start as they are foundational moves. from there just surf through the guides on bboy.org and find something you wanna learn. obviously be realistic. don't learn some really basic moves and then decide you're ready for flares or something like that. you gotta work your way up to more difficult moves. some moves build off of other moves too. for instance, if you can't do a handglide freeze, you probably won't be able to do windmills since you start off windmills in the handglide freeze.

just practice a lot and never give up and i think you'll be able to learn without taking any classes... best of luck :)
