I no this is probably a dumb question, but how do you use scapegoat in yugioh?

Ok when you are in a jam and don't have any monsters in your hand and no monsters on the field or max 1(this is the optimal time to use it.) You can set this card or activate it during your turn. When you activate it allows you to "tokens" these are monsters you can not sacrifice. Put these in Def position to block your opponent from attacking your life points. Hope this helps.

the part that says beast type/earth level 1 means that the tokens are treated as monsters with those details, their attribute is earth, their type is beast and they all have 1 star like monster cards do. this is pretty much just for card effects that target or require you to have a 1 star monster or something like that.

you active and get for monsters with 0 atk and def you cannot tribute them for a tribute summon. you can activate it on yyour opponents turn because it is a quick play
