  1. Go to college in southern California

  2. inlander

  3. i live by the water but the whole oil rigs comment up there is one of the ways it's done down here. but we get waves too. just not very good ones. stupid south.

  4. You need to watch some surf movies!

People catch and ride waves of all kinds these days - even surfing in the wakes caused by oil riggers!

Two very famous surfing brothers grew up surfing a river in Hawaii. If it's not a sandy bottom I wouldn't chance it but this is part of what surfing is all about... the search.

Other than finding a river or making some trips out to the coast every few months, you're landlocked. You may want to consider moving, but it's expensive and you'll run into trouble with locals.

  5. Since you love it don't give it up! Save it for vacations! There's no use in giving something up when you really love it.

  6. move to the beach, thats what I did

  7. Ah, your case is all too familiar.  You are landlocked, you went on vacation to some place like Hawaii or Mexico and you loved the three foot mush you played in on your nine foot soft board.  You have seen the tourist side of surfing.  Keep it that way and save it for vacations.  Because once you cross over, to the side of locals only signs, winter swells, broken boards and big angry hawaiians, surfing ain't so pretty any more.  Enjoy your vacations

  8. mvoe out to hunington.

  9. I say don't give it up! Keep it for your vacations. And depending on how old you are maybe when you get ready to go off to college then you could go to a school when they have beaches so that you can surf.....! ;-)

  10. Don't give up anything you love, and while stuck on dry land you could try wake boarding and water skiing---not the same but fun in thier own ways.

  11. Perhaps if you ever move you could take into account your love of surfing, and consider moving to a place by the sea. Eg. if you get a new job or go away to college. In the mean time though, you could centre your holidays around surfing and maybe take some trips with organised surf schools. there are places that do package deals for all levels of surfers. These would be good, as sometimes you can be at a loss for things to do whilst surfing, there great fun, and you get a better taste of surfing.

    good luck

  12. if there is a Great Wolf lodge near you, you could surf on the FlowRider. if not keep waiting for vacations because the less you do it the more you will love it when you get a chance!!

  13. I suggest that you neither give it up or just leave it for vacations!  What you need to do is "mimic" the experience that you had on your vacation.

Buy a longboard (skateboard)!  Get one with really soft wheels (low durometer), and it'll be like floatin on water again.  Trust me, I live in Hawaii.  And when there's no surf, there's skate.  Always.

And if that doesn't satisfy your surfless syndrome, there's a brand new board out that allows you to cut upward on a downhill run, just like surfing!  It's called a street surfing board.  Look it up, and good luck!

  14. Vacations.

  15. well if ya love it that much i say dont give it up save it for vacations.....but thats my opinon soo do what you want..
