  1. It's best to get him off the bottle so they don't ruin their teeth, but everyone has their own challenges.  My son did really well switching from bottle to sippy cup, but I know it's not always that easy.

  2. If you eliminate the bottle, he will learn to use the cup. He is old enough.

2-4 year olds are much too old and probably are still on the bottle because the parents find it easier than training them.

  3. Some kids take a little longer but the longer they're on bottles the more risk of it affecting there teeth. good luck

  4. My almost 2 year old takes the bottle but only with water, I never put milk or juice in it. She only uses it at bedtime and naptime. I wish I had taken the bottle away at one year and will do so with #2!

  5. Its okay, for just a bit over 1yr, but when you get to 2-3 yrs, its not good.  the mouth develops incorrectly.  arches, teeth spacing, etc. and bottle feeding causes decay in teeth also

  6. My two year old still likes her bottle...I don't think there are any long term problems. She will quit when she is ready. Who comes up with these rules about when children should quit this or that? I hate treating children like they are some science experiment...a child is a person and should have some say whether or not they are ready to quit bottles or pacifiers. Give them alternatives but don't be pushy...that will only make them cling to them more.

  7. For a 1 yr old (or 14 month old) it's still okay.  But, being on the bottle too long can start to cause problems with their teeth.  The can have bite problems later in life when their teeth come in.  I would suggest asking your doctor their opinion, but mine always suggested weaning them off it around a year old.  Your son still has time, but he'll probably always pick the cup he is familiar with as long as you're giving him choices.

  8. 2 years is OK but 4 years is way way way too old for bottles, that is disgusting.

  9. well all my kids where off the bottle buy there 1st birthdays, my doctor told me to start giving sip cups at 7 or 8 months.i just followed my kids doctors orders but i do think 3 and 4 is way to old for a bottle and pacifier

  10. I think it depends on the child.

My 2 year old got off bottles around 9 months, but his  3 year old brother still gets a water bottle at night with a nipple on it.

It is a comfort thing for him.

I think 4ish might be a little old, but I wouldn't judge a parent who had trouble getting a child off his/her bottle. Some kids are just harder, huh!

    Good luck with your son!

  11. I think it's fine, though 4 years old is a bit old to be taking a bottle, my brother stopped taking a bottle when he was 3, and it wasn't too big of a deal - some kids just take longer to wean than others.
