I noticed mites all over my setting hens eggs. They are only a week into it. Should I trash the eggs too?

  1. There is no need to trash your eggs ,get down to a pet store and buy some Poultry Mite Spray .

    Remove the eggs from the nest spray the nest box ,replace the eggs after about 5 mins. then spray your sitting birds ,this should be the cure but there is no need to destroy the eggs.


  2. The mites won't hurt the eggs. A mite spray might, but I can't swear to that. I use poultry dust which generally has the same ingredients and won't be absorbed through the shell. Like I said, I'm not sure that the spray would be. That's just me. However, you run the risk of the hen not going back to her nest if you take her off to do it. Watch when she gets off her nest to eat, drink, and p**p, and dust her then. Do it again in a week.
