  1. The green dot signifies that the helmet is wired for communications with the side lines, usually the q-back. I believe the defensive captain, (MLB) can be wired also.

  2. its for quarterbacks.  if it had a C on it then its for captains, but i think its for QB's

Players who make over seven million dollars a year get to wear green dots, that way other players know to bow down to them in the huddle.

  4. The green dot means the helmet has a radio transmission device in it.

Until I think this year only the quarterback could have one to make communication easier. A defensive player(most likely a linebacker) will have one now in pre-season to see how it goes.

  5. That green dot represents which helmet has the microphone.  Usually its on the QB's for offense and the defensive captain's.

  6. the green dot indicates that which helmet has the microphone hooked up to their helmet so that head coach can tell the quarterback what play to run. on offense the quarterback has the mic in their helmet, on defense, usually the captain on defense has the green dot helmet

  7. 2way radio symbol...

  8. this is the first year that the defense will be able to receive wireless communications from the sidelines.

Typically in the past it has been the QB on offense.

Now with the Defense having the new technology, you will see one player with a Green Dot on a helmet.

The Cowboys will be alternating between Bradie James and Kevin Burnett, depending on how they rotate from the Sidelines...only ONE player per team, is allowed on the field with the communications device.

However, they shut the device off with about 15 seconds left on the playclock...or something like that.  It is only used to call in a play to the huddle.
