I noticed the k&n air filter on my 2002 yamaha r6 was wet around the edges. I also noticed the gasket missing

will call the dealer to get the gasket asap but could it have been the reason why my motorcycle has been losing power and bogging down? It obviously is leaking air, or sucking in too much air. My bike was running crappy and i'm wondering if that could have been the reason. Thanks!

Probably not the reason. Your engine is designed to draw air in through the intake whether a filter is there or not. I would probably check the manifold and the gaskets where it goes into the engine for a leak. Might also want to check the vacuum hoses as well.
