Question:

I only get sound out of one speaker from my tv when I play a DVD. Any ideas on how to fix this.Thanks?

Both speakers work fine when I watch tv this only happens when I play a DVD. My set up is basic DVD player, VCR and Directv box. any suggestion would be great.

  1. Most likely one of the audio cables that are connected to the TV is lose (it's either white or red). Check the connection to the DVD player AND the one to the TV.

    Edit: In your case just check every connection that the DVD player is connected to.

    Another possibility is that your DVD player has some kind of audio balance on it. Check the settings and look for balance, it should be set right in the middle to receive sound equally from each side.


  2. did you check your dvd audio output cables?

    Get your self new audio cables red and white.

  3. did you check your dvd audio output cables?

    just unplug the audio cables from both the tv and dvd player, make sure they are not corroded/rusty and reconnect;it may help.

  4. If you have surround sound then the plugs for the rest of the speakers could be unplugged or connected wrong. These plug are on the back of the DVD player. But if you dont have surround sound i have no idea.
