  1. Hmmmm...your children could be too old.

Your income could be too high (there is a phase out starting at $75,000).

You could have had no qualifying income and only paid $6.75 in tax ( and had income less than the filing requirement).

You could have owed taxes or some other debt.

The letter will explain how the amount was calculated.

  2. they can't give you more than you got for your federal return...so if you only got back that much for your federal, that's how much you got for your stimulus.

  3. Are you sure that's your stimulus payment and not something else?

If you owed back taxes, child support, or defaulted student loans, or if you made over $75,000 for the year, it could be right, otherwise no.

  4. You owe back taxes or haven't been paying your child support to the father who got custody of  your other kids.

    Learn math.

  5. Before you received your stimulus check, you should have received a notice that told you how much you were getting and how that amount was calculated.

The amount of the stimulus was UP TO 600 dollars per adult and 300 per child.  Not everyone got that much.  The amount that was received was dependent on your income (it phases out after a certain point), whether or not you owed any back taxes, whether or not you owed any outstanding bills to government facilities (such as a hospital), and whether or not you were behind on child support.

If you have any questions, I would certainly consult your tax preparer (they can probably explain) or the IRS.  It could indeed be an error, but more than likely it was not.

I hope this helps answer your question.

  6. Do you have outstanding debts like a student loan?  Did you owe any 2007 taxes?  If so, then they used your stimulus check to pay those off.  They should have sent you a letter explaining what happened.

  7. Did you owe any back taxes?Maybe you made a mistake and under paid.$6.75 dosen't sound right.
