I only have first gear on my cr250 1988?

my cr is old and yesterday all of a sudden i could only get first gear,2nd is really difficult and my bike makes a knocking and

doesnt sound healthy im hoping its nothing serius as i love my bike can anyone advise me?

None of this is a good sign.

Check fluid levels.

See if you can get the bike to shift gears while it is on the work stand.

Our 89 CR125 did almost the same thing, and the transmission parts alone were $600 .

The bike is going on e-bay very soon.

On the bright side, the gas tank will make a lovely planter and the front fork assembly makes nice yard art.

If your clutch is not dragging, you have something broken inside the trans. case.

Check your clutch line. If that's fine, then your only remaining hope is that you snapped something simple in your clutch lever/arm/springs. Otherwise your bike has eaten the clutch and probably lunched the transmission.

If the clutch line is moving, take it in and hope for the best.
