I do not consider myself racist, but others who have heard my stance on interracial breeding say that it is racist to believe such a thing. Is it? I don't think one race is better than any other, and I treat every the same in terms of how I act towards them. The only issue I have is on interracial breeding. I have no problem with g*y marriage (only g*y adoption of children) so long as it is outside my church (Roman Catholic). I have no problem with interracial marriage so long as the marriage does not produce children. I hold this view on interracial breeding for anthropological reasons and not for racist reasons. I want to preserve each race as they are. I like seeing whites, blacks, asians, hispanics, etc. I think seeing people of all ethnic groups and races is pretty cool. Having a world of one blended race doesn't sound good to me. Nonetheless am I racist for not approving or believing in interracial breeding/children (not marriage amongst two races itself).

  1. yes i do agree you are racist,if you don't believe so then i suggest you take a look at the question you posted once again,you oppose interracial breeding? people aer'nt guinea pigs you know,i think it's great other races get along with one another,and it's even better if they can find love with someone of thier different race,good for them i say!!

  2. Ask this to your self what if you fall in love with a person of a different race? do you have friends that are from a different race do you hate them or you just do not care about it. if you do not have this kinds of friends and you hate them and do not even talked or look at them, then you are a racist. we are all humans we breath the same air and live in this world. we all think differently but when there is a crisis we all come together to help one another without thinking if we are from different race. If a doctor tell you that you will die and the only way to survive is by accepting blood and a organ but this will come from a different person that is not of the same race as you what would you do.what if one of your kids get married to a person of a race that you do not approved of and have a child with that person. Are you going to hate that child? What will hap pend when he/she comes and tell you "I love you gran pa" what then? what will you think. that child will need you giddiness and support. you will become a roll model for that child.

  3. You are both racist and uneducated.

    Biologically, there is no such thing as human "races."  We are all members of the same big family.

  4. Most anthropologists would say that race has no objective basis, so who would you oppose breeding with? Klingons?

    A characteristic of Homo sapiens is extreme mobility. What we call "races" are a relatively transitory collection of a few obvious traits selected from many millions possible ones in our genetic makeup which are designated as significant in different times and places as indicators of difference. These definitions change over time depending upon political, economic and cultural conditions, and generally what we call "race", "Varna", "blue blood", or "caste" or whatever else people have used are actually cultural definitions that we humans create to define or justify our relationships with other people. Different traits such as skin and eye color, nose shape, body shape, hair color and texture, etc. generally contribute to adapting to particular environmental conditions such as greater amounts of UV light in lower latitudes or higher altitudes, or less UV and greater cold in higher latitudes.

    As people migrate into new environments the genetic makeup of their populations necessarily changes, and it actually is more adaptive for them to intermix and introduce greater variability into their gene pools. For example, people with dark skins moving to Greenland would reproduce more successfully, from a Darwinian view, by marrying light-skinned people, whereas light-skinned people moving to the equator or onto the slopes of the Himalaya would do better to marry darker skinned people. And then there are unseen traits, such as disease resistence or lack of bad mutations, which might have a greater bearing than visible racially-defined traits. South Asian populations, due to higher likelihood of diabetes might do better to marry northern European or African populations. You yourself will probably be shocked by the various ancestors you would find in your own genetic makeup if you should test your RNA. If you oppose inter-breeding, you thus would be opposing your very being.

    When you say that you don't think that one blended population would be good, first I don't think there is much chance of that happening because selection continues to work nontheless. Considering the vast number of variables continually at work within the selective process -- natural, sexual and social -- it is impossible to define beforehand what is adaptative, and interbreeding provides a constant mixture of new possibilities.

    Finally, it seems to me that what you really are saying is that you don't think that people should be migrating all across the planet. That, however, is another question entirely, and as I wrote already, though many other species would applaud you, it goes entirely against the species character of Homo sapiens. And even for populations not migrating, climatic conditions are now changing so rapidly that earlier adaptations will no longer hold; greater variation, cultural as well as genetic, will only help us survive as a species.

  5. I do not think you are particularly racist.

    But Ido think you are rather sad.

  6. what you fail to understand is that this IS a world with one human race.  all humans come from a common ancestor.  only after ages of isolation and inbreeding have we become so different in our outward appearance from one another.  in the process we have become a weaker species as more genes have been breeded out of our gene pool.  interracial breeding mixes those genes back together, which is healthy for our species.  it also facilitates a mixing of cultures and ideas, which is also healthy for our species.

    your ideas are archaic, ignorant, offensive, and yes... quite racist.  it may be natural for people to be more attracted to other people that look similar to them, but when two individuals that look very different from each other fall in love and procreate it is a good thing, and frankly nobody's business but their own.

  7. Well if you're a true anthropologist, then you shouldn't recognize "race".  Anthropologists typically don't recognize that there are human races, only that there are differences in people due to geographic ancestry.  Some might say that you could consider that "race", but anthropologists believe that the term "race" is a social construct that has taken on a meaning other than the simple biological one.  Since you recognize race, you shouldn't be chalking up your reasons against interracial breeding to anthropology as most anthropologists will not accept that as an anthropological belief.  From an anthropological view, I think you'd be considered a "kind racist"; you don't believe in inequality among people but the fact that you recognize race makes you a racist in a lot of anthropologist's eyes.

  8. I think I would probably call you racialist rather than racist, in that you hold to the theory that differences exist between human 'races'. As others have already said, this is a very outmoded idea.

  9. yes. racist & impotent

  10. Unless you are from a primitive culture, our races are already mixed. It has been happening for hundreds of years unless you are from a limited gene pool that inbreeds within a relatively small group of people which would mean that they are all cousins for the past several hundred years. People are not dogs, we don't get AKC registered. Everyone knows that inbreeding causes more problems than not.

  11. You can call it what you want, but it IS racism. Why would you care about interracial breeding, there is no way you are going to be alive long enough to see a "unified" race.

  12. I don't hold you as racist for your views. Somewhere someone has to make a stand on their beliefs. The biggest down side to interracial marriage is that the children grow up having to make a choice over another. Example Barack Obama tries to identify himself as black although he is half white. How is this fair to his white mother? Is he denying the fact that he is half white? Is he ashamed to be half white?

    Interracial marriages cause grief to the children although the parents don't feel any effect to their choices.

    Your question is 100% valid. Incidently, I am a minority.

  13. Besides being a racist, you're also ignorant.

  14. i see the dilema here, where as i see your points and though they seem noble...they can also be interpreted as racist. however, you are noth the only person who feels this way...you belong to a larger group, so dont feel singled out by those who dont agree, i personally dont care if races mix and combine, or if g**s adopt, because i feel like the bigger picture isnt what races or people represent, its how we interact. i feel like all the mixing of races is a good thing. because once everyone in the world is of similar appearance we will finally be able to focus on what is important...get me? evolution is causing the interbreeding. so we can all unite to save this planet. thats what is important. besides, the dif. skin colors and mild dif. in features only exists in large part to the evolutionary process....so....??? if you were a dog breeder would you breed a black poodle with a apricot poodle...cause after all they are both poodles.....and if they were never meant to breed...wouldnt it be impossible? like trying to breed a llama with an horse? just askin.

  15. I think diversity is good.  Its good to have some of every kind of race even mixed races.  As long as people are free to do what they want there will be diversity.

  16. I too have my likes & dislikes, as I am more attracted to white women than to black or asian women, but have no objections to others picking a person of another race as a mate.  My adopted son is Latino & I do not like the Black or Latino Culture that has developed in the last generation or so (too many fatherless children & too many gang related thugs.)  I am old fashioned, in that I think every child deserves a stable & loving relationship with a family.  If it takes two g*y people to provide that, so be it.

    I can't say you are a racist... as in all cases of ethics, the reasoning behind a stance is more important than the stance itself. I too would hate to see diverse hair & skin tones disappear into one mono tone the world over.

  17. Agree with you mostly. But I will not impose my view on others. Thats where we differ.

  18. Yes, I would consider you a racist.

  19. I do not oppose interracial breeding, though I do feel wistful over loss of culture.  This is from a historical viewpoint, though; not an anthropological one.

    Any anthropologically inclined person knows that there are no pure races to preserve!  Italians didn't have lovely black curls until they imported black slaves, for example.

    While it is sad to lose ethnic culture, it has happened and has been happening since people started being people.  I personally dislike the loss of different dialects within languages, but that's just me.  I mean, does anyone really care that Latin is a dead language?

    Many of us hate the changes we see happening around us, but we don't hate the changes that happened before us--we're usually glad of those!  So remember that while we lose something, we usually gain something even better as a result of the loss.

    Your explanation makes you sound like you were raised racist, but you have enough knowledge to understand that we are all equals.  I expect your ancestors would be appalled at how you have changed from their attitude of complete racism.  People used to know that races other than white are stupid!  How could you change!  Get my meaning?  Even you have moved away from something somebody wanted preserved.  It's fine for people to want to marry someone of their own race, but it's just as fine to marry someone of another race.  I live near a military base and get to see the offspring of many mixed marriages; an asian/black child is cute!  Perhaps a new culture is in the making... again!

  20. Well, Yeager, gave you the answer, if you were actually paying attention.

    Your concept of “race” is now defunct. Admittedly, science has just, in the last decade, discovered the answer but it has been several years now. It has been enough time for almost everyone who reads to learn that there is but …one race… on the planet. This race is the HUMAN RACE.

    Every person, now on the planet, is of the exact same race. What you are talking about is ethnic differences. We used to call those differences different races; we were incorrect.

    To answer your question: you are racist but you probably don’t want to be.

  21. Ok your not a racist but you are Catholicentric and whatever is your color add the word centric(e.g. green + centric = greencentric) to it meaning centered to one. Well united colors of benetton is good but to tell you the truth the term race has already been debunked along time ago by anthropologists, only racist would still love to use them actually, we are all humans no barriers we may be different from one another but no one is greater than the other because of their physical appearance. You can never stop blending, why will you interfere with the affairs of the heart just for the sake of preserving ones color, thesame thing what Hitler believed that the Aryan race should not be blended with the Semites because of his twisted belief of their race as pure. You yourself dont want to be tainted, what you said that(g*y marriage (only g*y adoption of children) so long as it is outside my church [Roman Catholic]) showed this. I think you just need to know why in the first place two race or amalgamation occur and understand them deeply.

  22. Please re-think. Interracial kids have great genes (as regards diseases etc.).

  23. I think I see the point you are trying to make here, I'm from a blended union, but if we all blend, then we lose the uniqueness of wence we came. You are, however asking a really difficult question

  24. You cannot be racist. For the simple fact that there is only one race,  "the human race", and as for colour, there is only lighter and darker shades of brown. I would really like to hear your anthropological reasons for this outburst. I suppose if there were such a thing as racist, I would certainly put you very close to the top of the list.  As you don't allow people of whatever  colour to choose for themselves. why should your clouded view of the future take precedence over say, my view, that it would be better all round if we each married someone different in colour and so further my aims of total integration, of course, this is all hypothetical, and I don't know why I am wasting time and energy on it. Lastly, I don't see any sense whatsoever in getting married and not having children, unless perhaps you are a same s*x couple. Are you?

  25. Who are you to judge the world? Im part german, english, polynesian, italian and dutch and proud. I was prom queen .. I am going to study law and international relations and politcal science. I am an A+ student. I dont think being mix raced has made me any less of a person infact I think being mix raced gives you an insight into races and the whole debate as I am not biased to one side. I see the simalarities between all the members of my family from different countries and see a persons nationality doesnt mean anything. We all are given a body in life but its a soul and our spirit that defines our worth as a person. Mixed children are often good looking and have the best of both worlds. There will still be people from each race breeding statistics will show you that so there isnt anything to be worried about .. if less than 30% of children are mixed then that just adds a whole new dimension to the world. I too am interested in anthropology and philosophy..

    Good luck with your future studies

  26. I don't think you are a racist, the world has more issues than anyone can take in, and its hard to define right from wrong.

    Race shouldn't limit people, all people are the same, a bunch of cells, race is just a genetic trait.

    Actually because of that kind of thought that you express we have all these people killing members of their family because they are marrying out their race. The same applies to religion.

    People are complicated creatures, they want to be happy, loved, successful, accomplished... should race stop them from getting to their dream? you can answer that yourself...

  27. Lets start from "Anthropological reasons".

    There is no anthropological reason why the so-called "races" shouldn't mix.  The idea of race is an antiquated one.  The differences between a black-african and a white-norseman are almost non-existant.  The truest test of this being that if a black-african man and a white-norsewoman were to have s*x they could produce a child and that child would not be sterile.

    There already is a world with only one blended race:  The entire world only has one race of homonid:  Human.

    Although, I would agree with you that having Neanderthals and Habilis around would be cool.  (and modern humans would probably not be able to produce children with them).

    +++

    BTW:  hispanic is not a race...its not an ethnicity...its not a nationality...its not even a culture.  Its just a way of grouping a whole bunch of different groups (black, white, asian, etc.  christian, jews, muslim, etc.)  because of our spanish ansestry (which is only important because there are so many of us in the world).

    ++++

    I'm not even going to touch the "g*y" part of your question.

    +++

    In short, I DON'T think you are racist.  But the information with which your schema is formulating your version the world is faulty and/or incomplete.
