Question:

I ordered a new dishwasher from Sears, we went to pick it up and when we got back water was pouring out of it!

We of course called Sears right away and they said that it is normal. The then said that they are tested so that was just water that had not drained (this is not a little bit of water). Is this normal? Or is Sears trying to give us a returned dish washer?

It's actually on its way back to Sears as I type... however, we can't get another on until Saturday and can't use our sink b/c of the way it hooks up (we learned that the hard way)! It's been a week, and I'm going nuts!

Have you heard of dishwasher doing this? Or Sears trying to s***w people?

Also if they do leak why would they not say this when they watch someone put it into an impeccably clean SUV? A friend picked it up for us so we wouldn’t have to pay delivery…

I can’t make it until Saturday… I might go clean dishes in the bath tub!

  1. Sounds fishy to me

  2. wtf.....no way.  I don't care what they say.  I wouldn't go back there.  Try Sargeant Appliance.

  3. Yes, there really is some residual water in them from testing.  And yes, I've seen water come out of freshly delivered dishwashers still in factory sealed cartons.  No, your dishwasher was not a returned one.

  4. Never heard of such a thing. I think you got a return.

  5. Many of your name brand appliance test there equipment before they package and box it up.  This should not be a concern for you.  It’s very common for washing machines and dishwashers both to have sitting water in them.  All this means is that it worked and passed the test.  I wouldn’t worry yourself about it.  I was alarmed by the same thing when I bought my new dishwasher.  Turns out all it signifies is that it made the grade.  Enjoy your new appliance.

  6. Some water is normal but not a lot.

Yes they test them in the factory. But dishwashers always hold some water in them so the seals are made to be always immersed.

You can actually wreak the seals by drying them out if you entirely remove all the water.

I'm not all that sure how much you can trust the people at the store to give you technical answers.... LOL...... I was a Sears service tech for 25 years.

But it sounds like the factory left too much water in it.
