Online vendors usually give you tracking numbers (such as those for USPS or UPS) so that you can track your own package from origin to destination.  You can usually determine the exact day that a package will arrive at your doorstep.  Look for the tracking number and go to the website for the shipper that was used to track the shipment.

Note: you can't track USPS first class mail or media mail shipments.
