I was told that if I owed the taxes before the birth of my children (which I did) the IRS gets first dibs. I will be starting a new job and the IRS is already chomping at the bit... Is this true? Thanks for the help!!

  1. Child support has priority over your tax liability. Period. You cannot get around it and shouldn't. If your local district attorney decides to garnish your pay, it can take up to half your disposable income.

    If you can't pay your delinquent taxes without a hardship being caused, IRS can put them on the back burner until you situation improves.

  2. Not trying to be smart, but I'm guessing both will be there to garnish any wages, before you have to choose. Might want to think about getting 2nd, even 3rd job to help.;

  3. Yes it is true , and they should get your taxes..what makes you so much better than every body else to avoid paying taxes??

  4. Yes the IRS takes their cut first than child support.  It can be both.

  5. Yes, do you have a payment plan with IRS yet.  It is better to make some effort to pay IRS before your wages are garnished, and if you have not been paying or responding to their letters then that is what you deserve.  An your child(ren) will have to suffer even more now because of choices you have made in life.

    Good luck! contact IRS and request an installment agreement call 1-800-829-0922 or 1-800-829-7650.
