I owe back taxes and my current wife owes about $500 in child support, are we going to get a IRS rebate?

  1. It will go to the back taxes -   wife is only $500 behind - that is not enough to take the irs rebate

  4. You will; but you won't see it.  They'll apply it to your debt.

    If the rebate is more than what you owe, you'll get a check for the difference.

  5. if it's IRS taxes you owe - you definitely won't see the rebate - does your wife get child support deducted out of her weekly paycheck? if yes, then back support should already be included in the weekly amount calculation - if she doesn't get it withheld, then they may intercept it or she should at least use the money to get caught up or you may eventually see tax refunds intercepted, etc.

  6. You will get it, but you won't see it. It will probably pay of the child support first, if you filed jointly, because IRS considers support in other instances first.

  7. You'll get whats left over after those have been paid.
