I just found 2 books in my closet that's about 2 years over due. I don't really feel like returning it but people are telling me its going to affect my credit.

Right now i'm only 17 and i have a few weeks before i'm an "adult". So while i'm still a "minor" would like to get this paid and what not IF IT WILL affect my credit.

I live in new york so will the NYPL charge me for 2 years if I do return it and they make me pay?

  1. The NYPL uses Unique credit collection agency.  If you don't return the books it will effect your credit rating.

Return the books.  There is usually a maximum fine charge that is less than the cost of the book.  At my library it is $10.

  2. Take the books back and pay the fine. They never charge more than the price of the book if it's lost. Relax, it's no big deal.
