I own a Canon Pixma MP530 all-in-one fax, copier, printer, scanner. I cannot send or receive faxes since I switched my Comcast voip phone line from my office to my home phone, along with my MP530. The fax function and my cordless Vtech phone with answering machine share the same line. They are on different floors and are not connected to each other.
The phone works fine, as does the message machine, but faxes do not come through. Previously, Canon support people advised me to cancel Comcast voicemail because it jumps in before the MP530 can receive a fax. The MP530 is set for answer mode, ecm turned off, with Rx speed at 9600--all as Canon advised. In the previous configuration Canon also advised plugging the base phone into the MP530. Did this also.
As indicated, I cannot tie the two together because the base phone is now on a different floor. There is a "live" phone jack in my office to which the fax machine is now plugged. The home phone is plugged into another jack upstairs.
What do I do, coach? Are the settings correct? Have I linked the phone line and the MP530 correctly? Any other suggestions to make this machine send and receive faxes, and still allow me to receive phone messages?
Thanks for your help.
