I own a Sony HDTV (kdf-42we655). How do I receive HD signal thru my Scientific Atlanta digital cable box?

You can use either component video or HDMI (or DVI) to connect the set-top box to the TV.  You will also need HD programming to see true HD.

Set the set-top output to 1080i or 720p as well.

Make sure your box is an HD box (it usually has HD in the model number).  Connect it to TV via HDMI, DVI or Component.  Check your local cable listings for HD channels (on TWC is 700 range, or example) and you are set.
