My suggetion is Vista is far better than XP. I am using Vista on HP laptop for last 6 months. Continue Vista...all programs run finely on Vista. And multisource internet is very easy to maintain.

Hi Hari,

   I ur case the HDD is in diff format which Xp or earlier versions of windows cannot recognise it.

   So if u are located in hyderabad then i can help u.

NOTE: TAke a RECOVERY OF VISTA before u format , it is necessary else you need to pay $200 if u wish VISTA again , so be careful to take the backup , u need 2 DVD disks for it.

Typical error , your XP CD doesnt not contain the correct SATA drivers , so when its booting up, without the correct drivers, it will not see the hard drive at all.

You need a floppy disk containing the correct drivers, during XP installation, press F6 to prompt XP to load teh drivers from floppy.

u have hp or compaq laptop so u need ahci driver bulit cd then u load xp
