Question:

I own a pontiac grand am, coolant running clean yet cars temp rises while in idle and a/c isnt cold.?

I think it may be a sensor or a fuse for the cooling fan...I dont know.

  1. Do you still have the original thermostat?  My 1997 pontiac sunfire needed one replaced and I almost had to replace it a second time when I noticed that being stuck in traffic caused me to 'run hot'.  A new thermostat fixed it for me.


  2. I had the same issue with my Pontiac Sunfire.  You can try popping the hood while it is idling and listening for the engine fan.  That was the problem with mine...the fan wasn't running.  Other than that, I do not know.

  3. check to see if the fan is kicking on, also you can tell if the radiator is clogged up. after you driven your car, shut it off and feel the radiator fins, next to the fan, if you feel cold spots, it needs flushing. it also might be the thermostat too. probably the reason the ac isnt cold, its probably low.
