  1. I think it is time for you to add a shotgun to your arsenal.  A 12 gage pump is in your future.  Lot's of recoil, cheap to shoot, can't wear it out, target annihilation fun.  Yep, Mossy or Remmie, take your pick.

You get the added benefit of playing with different ammo.  Slugs, 00, 000, #4, are all good fun

  2. Here are a few suggestions:

Rossi M-92 Saddle Ring Carbine in .357 Magnum.  Not more recoil or noise, but it will give you a new appreciation of the power of the .357 Magnum.  Or you can get the same rifle in .44 RemMag or .45 Long Colt.

Ruger Blackhawk, in .357 Magnum, .41 Magnum, .45 LC (or even better one with a spare cylinder in .45 ACP), or a Super Blackhawk in .44 RemMag.

Or a Uberti made Colt Single-Action Army copy in .44 S&W SPL.

If you don't already reload, you should get either a Partner Press Kit, or a RockChucker Press Kit from RCBS and start rolling your own ammo.

One more thing, additional noise and recoil do not improve your shooting.  In fact, added recoil and noise are detrimental to good shooting.  Be certain to always use your hearing protection at the range.

    Doc

  3. i shot 38 wad cutters in my 357...cheap as dirt...

  4. Try some black powder muzzle loaders and flint locks.  You cant get some reproductions for next to nothing or fully operational era firearms.

they are not anything like automatics......they carry a h**l of a wallop on firing and with low velocity and soft projectiles.....where a modern firearm punches holes in such things as cinder blocks (not concrete block), the low velocity projectile literally obliterates the objects.  Also, unlike modern firearms, a black powder rifle usually has a working range of around 300 yrs

  5. It's more fun to shoot my M-14 off the shooting table I built into my deck here at home. Where I live we can shoot all we want. I have 33 guns and like shooting them all. If you don't do it already, start reloading. You can shoot a lot more for your money by reloading and you can make more accurate l;oads for your guns.

Get a 10mm Glock. I have the full size 20 and the subcompact 29.They are both awesome! The 29 is in my pocket now. I carry it in case a bear or mountain lion gets stupid...

  6. Like the previous answer, I love my colt 1911, well, all four of them. Fun gun to shoot, reliable and if you reload not that bad on the wallet.

  7. Maybe a .22 pistol. Ruget mkiii, mkii if you can find one. Fun AND cheap.

  8. Dude why?????????? The ammo for that is just a ridiculous amount for just plinking around.

  9. Cor-bon makes a 200grain hard-cast .357 hunting round that leaves the muzzle at 1100fps. I've never fired one but my father has..."Kick's like a mule." If you really want a hopper get a .454 casull revolver. This round is more than suitable for black-bears and rhinos and fires the cheaper, more forgiving .45lc. Happy shooting!

  10. Yes there is more. A whole lot more. The next logical step is 44 Rem magnum. As a Smith fan keep with the Smith family and go for a 29 or 629. I shoot a Ruger Redhawk SS, 7 1/2". Especially to a reloader this is a wonderful tool. Just because it is a magnum does not mean you have to load maximum power cartridges every time. I shoot a lot of medium power loads; these are true magnum pressure but on the lower scale. 240 grain bullets and 2400 powder ( I don't give recipes on the internet for liability purposes)

One day while going out on a hog hunt I brought the wrong bullets (the medium load) I was conscience of the load and waited for a perfect opportunity for a clean kill. The bullet performed as well as a hot load. Years past. numerous feral hogs and a few deer I only shoot the medium loads in my 44 and I am as happy with them as can be.

  11. I have a Springfield XD 9mm that I love.  When you get the gun, it comes with two sixteen round mags a mag holder,  and a speed loader.  You can get an OEM "accessory pack" from any gun show for $50 and have an additional three sixteen round mags. . . with another mag holder.  It's not terribly expensive to shoot, it's super accurate, and it's cheap overall!  The .357 is a lot of fun, but too expensive these days with the price of brass.

  12. Well alot of these are good answers.  I really like my 1911 .45, the recoil is perfect and the caliber will shred any thing.  If you load your own rounds like I, you can  figure out what is best for you as far as powder charge and bullet weight.  But I like one thing better than that so far my Ruger Super Red Hawk .44 Mag. It is a devil.  I can shoot a nice 3" group out to 75 yards (not feet) so far!  I'm sure that with more practice I can get the same group out to 100 yards.  Keep in mind though that I have a Simmons scope on it aswell and it as close to a 10 " barrel

  13. if you're looking for more recoil, try the 41 or 44 mag. or in an automatic, you might enjoy a 10mm. they have a very nice barrel flip when fired. course, for the ultimate handheld thrill, try a 45-70 in a thompson center single shot pistol with a 14 in barrel. not only will it "light your fire" it also does strange and wonderful things to a watermelon at 100 yds :)
