I own a two wheeler of suzuki make(fiero 2002 model)the problem is that when i drive, it dosen't take quick pickup,i always feel like it's holding back, and when i try to accelerate, suddenly it stops or tends to go in reserve mode even though the tank has enough fuel in it.Recently i had changed it's clutch plates set.Is this going to be a major problem (is it CDI problem).Pls suggest, desperately needs help.

  1. It appears that your fuel petcock is clogged.  If you have seen the construction of the petcock, it is a slim long tube which extends into the tank with perforations and having a wire mesh.  If perchance, these are clogged with rust or any foreign matter, it may hamper the flow of fuel to the carburator.  Once you clean your tank and make sure the fuel petcock is free from any impurities, the fuel will flow freely and give you the pickup you are looking for.

Do make sure the air filter too is clean.  Also give your spark plug a change.  Sometimes the most obvious can also be the most tricky.  An intermitent spark plug can be most confusing.  Check your ignition switch too.  Sometimes the earthing dosen't make contact and this too could cause trouble.  The Fiero was a good commuter and although it was not an outright performance machine, it was competent enough.  A little faultfinding will give you a lot of satisfaction.
