They're canvas shoes, and it's fabric paint (so no real problem there, right?) I used sharpie on them too. Should I seal them with something? If so, what?

  1. Thompson's WaterSeal, Sport Seal, Leather & Fabric Protector.

    Waterproofs & protects.

    Helps repel spills & stains.

Allows leather & fabric to breathe.

    Long-lasting, penetrating protection.

    Low odor.

Use on: footwear & outerwear, sports & camping gear, boating & hunting gear, furniture & upholstery, leather & fabric surfaces. Can be used on many fabrics, including canvas, nylon, polyester, cotton and flannel. Enhances the water repellency of performance fabrics and factory-applied treatments.

It will require repeated applications with extended use of your shoes, so keep a can on hand for the wet seasons.

  2. If you used the stuff you are suppose to use before painting on fabric then you should be fine. It's called texile medium and you mix one part of it to 2 parts of your paint. It is by the the craft paints.Just throw the shoes in the dryer for a few minutes to cure. I pinted on canvas drop cloths and never sealed them and have washed them a dozen times.
