  1. Yes, you always have an obligation to pay child support.  The amount varies with your income.  If you earn less while you are in college, then you owe less.  The children do have mothers, and they are equally responsible for providing for their children's needs.  If you need to get through college, to make more money in the long run, in order to better provide for them, then one way to reduce your financial load temporarily, would be to limit your income to the living expense stipend provided by an "Americorps" position.  You would have money coming in, but would owe less money in child support.  Suggest the same to the mothers.  This is one way that they can "receive money" from an outside source, and still get "food stamps and other federal assistance" because money earned through "Americorps" positions doesn't count against them either.  I am a single mother that was surprised to learn that I could keep my food stamps while working for Americorps.  Every other time I tried to get a job, my food stamps were cut so much, that it didn't make up for the gas that I lost while earning the paycheck at the new job.  I couldn't get ahead.  This will reduce your responsibility temporarily to the children, and keep them from suffering from the reduction, by letting their mothers do the same thing that you're doing.  Everyone benefits.  Americorps will also pay for your college, and put your interests and loans on hold while you work for them.

  2. i really dont think u should... but that **** is wrong to me... at least make u pay after college

  3. Yes. Your children probably don't care that you're in College, they'd prefer to eat.

  4. Yes you still have to pay.  Even if you did not have a job, you are still supposed to pay.

  5. Yes! Do the kids mothers get a break financially from the kids if they want to go to school?

  6. You still have to pay and going to college will NOT reduce your obligation. EVERY state looks at what the parent is currently earning and what that person has earned in the past. If there is a discrepancy, the parent must come up with a VALID reason or child support is set based on what that parent is CAPABLE of earning.

Voluntarily earning less is not a valid excuse. Quitting a job to take a lower paying job or even to go to college, isn't going to cut it. Being in jail doesn't count either. If you were laid off or downsized and couldn't find another job in the same pay range, the child support could be lowered. If these laws weren't in place, every parent facing child support could just quit their job and go to work part-time at the mini-mart for minimum wage until after the child support case was handled.

  7. Yes, you certainly do have to pay.

  8. Yes you still have to pay.

    It's called taking responsibility.

Going to college and getting a degree is a great thing but it doesn't mean you get a break from life and what comes with it.  If you weren't ready to be a dad then try using protection next time.
