I pierced my ear over a year ago and it still tries to heal over?

Is this normal? If I take the earring out for 2 days or so the hole begins to close and I have to push it through again to put my earring back in. Its been a year now and it still bleeds occasionally. There is no pain so I don't think its infected and I use rubbing alcohol on it before I put the earring back in.

You may not be able to wear that type of ear ring (e.g silver, gold, cheap ones) when i wear cheap ear rings my ears hurt and start to bleed.
