Ok so I plan on Attending college out of state. I was wondering, since I want to attend a community college first is it better to attend a CC in my state then transfer to the University in the other state or attend a CC in the state where I would like to attend the University?

Thanks You

P.S. I live in Georgia and would like to attend College is Pennsylvania.

  1. It is better to stay in-state as long as possible so your tuition isn't 10 times what is normal.  So yes, its better to stay in GA and attend a community college for 2 years and then tranfer to PA when  you've save up enough money to pay the expensive out-of-state tuition you'll be charged there.

  2. I'd go to the CC in your state first.  It's a lot harder to build a list of friends at a CC then it is for a 4-year college.  Moving out of state for school will be expensive, so save up while attending a local CC in the meantime.

  3. Well this depends.  Financially, it makes better sense to attend a college in your home state first because you can pay instate tuition,  save on rent by living with your parents, and an associates degree will give you a slight edge on finding a job in Pennsylvania (assuming of course that you are looking to attend Penn State and you will be waiting a year to get in-state tuition before matriculating).  That being said, the only advantage going to a CC in Pennsylvania may offer is that a nearby CC in Penn may have a guaranteed admissions agreement with Penn State for students who attain their associates degree at that CC with a certain gpa.  I think both options are worth researching, so check it out and best of luck :)

  4. If you're basing the choice on your chances of getting into the University, I would think it doesn't matter that much.

If you're basing the choice on money, the CC in your state would be cheaper.

But go with your own personal opinion. Check out the schools, see which one you like.

  5. I live in PA and  close to Penn State... Penn has EXCELLENT studies but it is a PARTY SCHOOL *L...... What one are you planning on going to? As I tell my kids.... go to a college that is going to give you an education in schooling , not drunkedness, because thats all I see in the college kids up here.... *L*
