I plan on buying a G35 with 140k miles on it.

How long will it last me for? Should I pass on it?

  1. it will last you long because it's a Nissan Maxima 3.5 motor, because Nissan owns Infiniti, so as long as your getting a good deal and the car is in good shape. i would take it, beacuse they are stylish and like i said they will last you a long time because is basically is a Nissan.

  2. I guess you should also check insurance quotes for the car before buying one, for example here: http://carquotes.fateback.com

As I know Infinity is expensive to insure.

  3. PASS, 140k is alot, even for an infinity, unless you get a d**n good price

  4. In theory, a Nissan motor is engineered for 400K miles. That means very tight tolerances. The answer to your question lies in the Who, what, where, how?

    Who owned the car?

What kind of maintenance was performed on the car?

    Where was it driven?

    How was it driven?

The less provable information you can get, the more likely you shouls pass on this car.

  5. It depends on the nature and character of the miles.  Police cars and taxicabs are often good buys because they let them run all the time.  Engine wear mostly takes place when the engine is cold.  Stop and go driving kills 'em quickest.  Best bet is to let a mechanic take a compression test on your G35 engine -- that'll tell him how thrashed it is.
