  1. don't get a german shepherd. you have said that you don't have enough time for a pup and even if you were to get and adult german shepherd you'd need lots of time to train it as it would more focused on your other dog so unless you have endless amounts of time on your hands, don't get a shepherd. (when i say train, i mean "work with" as in, behaviour. it would be very hard to have to control a shepherd when you already have a big dog and when you don't have enough time to do this) good luck!!

  2. How about you wait for your dog to grow up before deciding on a new one? It sounds as if you aren't really 100% sure about your accommodation situation so I would say focus on the dog you have, not the dog you could possibly get one day.

Another thing you have to take into consideration is - how are you going to walk two giant dogs each day? Two will also double your vet/food costs by roughly the same considering what size you are opting for. Medium dogs are not to be laughed at - they are often just as good as their larger counterparts except that they weigh less and eat less, which lowers the cost of their medication and food accordingly. Also you need to keep in mind that larger breeds do not live as long as smaller ones and may end up breaking your heart faster.

  3. how about a rottie

  4. you should get a great dane

  5. I advise that you go down to a shelter before or when you move out, see which ones suit you, and which one you like. After you find one, ask if you can take your dog in and see if the dogs get along.

  6. AWWW lucky you!! I love large breed dogs myself!! How about a golden retreiver or labrador?? Just aslong as you've got the back yard and time to attend to them, anything will be fine!

    Good Luck

  7. Personally, I like Akita Inus. Akita Shepherds and Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldogs are great too!

  8. Whatever dog you decide on, why not see if you can introduce your current dog to the new puppy, before you go ahead?

You will have to wait until the puppy has had their shots, but I have done this successfully.

Then when you get them home, make sure you give your current dog its food FIRST - if you make a fuss of the dogs again go to your current dog first - make sure you give your current dog attention - don't spend all your time with the puppy.

  9. Please consider rescuing an adult dog!! At least check it out. The payback you will get from that dog is invaluable. Just make sure it's a good match. Check out petfinder.com, your local shelter, or local rescue agencies. There are so many large dogs that need homes. I rescued a really great mastiff mix and I have not been sorry about it for one minute. Good Luck!!
