I have worked for a casino in Laughlin, NV as a cocktail server for 5 years so I am very familiar with the aspects of the job and what it requires. I realize that the casinos in Vegas VS. the casinos in Laughlin are quite different although I do not plan on even trying for a job on the Strip. I'm thinking of maybe a locals place in Henderson as I plan on finding a place in Henderson. Could anybody tell me what the money is like? Which casinos would you recommend? Help!

  1. Your best bet would be a Stations casino. You deffinately have the experience that any casino would want. Sunset Station is in Henderson and probably the best for what you want. Another Stations property to try is Green Valley Ranch. That one is a bit more upscale from Sunset and still in Henderson though in the Green Valley section.Stations is well known for their great employee relations.

Just go their website and check out their openings at all their properties and apply.

  2. Have a job lined up before you move here. Things are not good right now. I live in Las Vegas.

  3. Boyd Gaming have the Fiesta in Hendersaon you are not going to like me as I have no idea what they would pay but Boyd gaming is meant to be a very good and fair employer

  4. Where did you work in Laughlin?  Can you get a transfer to Vegas?  If you have a nice face and body, you really should try to get a job at one of the Strip casinos.  Much better tips there.  You won't get nearly as much money in Henderson as in a Strip casino.

  5. The order in which you should work at Henderson casinos.. Green Valley Ranch (a Station Casino), Sunset Station, Fiesta - Henderson.

GVR - Best hotel out of the 3, by far. It's a AAA 4-Diamond property. Best clientele. It's always busy. There's a lot of things that bring people here; the sports book, drop bar, the restaurants, a club. One of my friends is a cocktail server here, she said she made over $80K last year. She's about 25, blond and a very good looking.. YMMV.

Sunset Station - It is always busy, but the hotel and clientele isn't as nice as GVR. You can certainly make some money here, because it is very busy.

Fiesta - Henderson - I view this place as being a dump.. Definitely the worst hotel & clientele of the 3. It's so far out of the way, imo. Most of the "better" customers will go to Sunset Station or GVR, so the "money" is elsewhere. I wouldn't work here.

South Point - It's a newer, locals. Located on the very south end of Las Vegas Blvd. It's pretty nice and usually pretty busy. A nicer client base than Sunset Station or Fiesta.

If I were you, I would definitely try to get a job at one of the Station Casinos. Their on Forbes list of 100 best companies to work for. I know quite a few people who work for them and they all say good things. But I would still check into some strip hotels. You have experience, so it's something to look into, imo.
