In August of this year, I plan on travelling to Mexico. I'm an American, I plan on coming back into the USA through Arizona.

In order for me to get back into the USA, I'll have to through US customs, what do I need to bring with me to prove I'm an American? Drivers License? Passport? Birth Certificate?

Thanks

  1. Best bet is US Passport.  If you have that you don't need anything else.  If you don't have a passport, you need a state-issued ID plus a birth certificate (this possibility was supposed to be canceled by now but the US Govt. keeps postponing effective date - you might want to check out the homeland security website for up-to-date info).

  2. You Do NOT need a passport until June 2009 Photo I.D and a birth certificate will do

  3. To travel to and from Mexico by land, you need a gov't issued photo I.D. and a proof of citizenship...Either a passport OR a birth certificate.  See site below and read carefully.  Pasports will be neeDed for all types of travel to and from Mexico after June 1 , 2009.

  4. i brought my passport and drivers license and they said thats all i needed

but to make sure you can check

    travel.state.gov

  5. Passports are ony needed currently for flying to and from Mexico

  6. You need your passport.  We used to be able to go into Mexico with a birth certificate and driver's license, but 9/11 changed that, and Mexico is catching up with the rest of the world on requirements.

Since you have to present your birth certificate to get a passport, that covers everything.

  7. A PASSPORT!!!!!!!! or your probably going to be arrested or they wont let you on a plane or cross the border

  8. i am fairly sure that you only need a birth certificate.

  9. passport...i think they will also issue a visa that you will have to give back..also a declaration form stating what you are bringing back....

  10. All you need to know: http://travel.state.gov/travel/cbpmc/cbp...

If you are traveling by air, you MUST have a passport, no exceptions.

If you are traveling by land or sea, currently, it is either a passport book or passport card OR government-issued photo ID and proof of citizenship (birth certificate).  That will change in June 2009, and a passport will be the only possibility.

  11. bring a passport and make should your shave

  12. If your Mexican looking you should prepare and bring lots of things such as Driver's License, Passport, Birth Certificate, and maybe some utility bills that prove that you are a US citizen and that you were born there. If your a white person, then a passport and birth certificate should be more than enough.

  13. normaly you can use only your passport. but be prepared to have your id and birth certificate with you.

  14. Passport
