I've been doing some research on the culture and how things run there, but I am still left with a few questions.

Is it hard to get a job there? Can you make decent money? How are the taxes? Outrageous or average? Is moving to Canada a good choice? Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I've been to http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/index.asp and all the steps you have to do to become a citizen is confusing...

  1. I am an American citizen and a PR in Canada.  How do you plan to get PR in Canada?

Jobs in the west are easy to come by---not as likely in the east.  You really need to speak French to live in Eastern Canada too.

Minimum wage here is higher than in the US---so is the cost of living.  Most low paying jobs start out at 10-11$cdn per hour.  Like working at the grocery store or at Mcdonalds.

Real estate is costly here.  If you are single plan on spending at least 200,000$ on a suitable condo.  If you have a family double that.

Why do you want to move to Canada?  I moved here to be with my husband.  Not a decision I made lightly.

You won't be able to become a citizen for 3-5 years after your PR---don't even worry about that right now.
