As said above it depends on your Nationality.

I know that Americans only need a passport to visit. Visas are for either work, living and school for us.

Other nations may have to have a Visa. Check out either the German Embassy website and look there or as your own!

If you're American or Canadian, no. You need a passport from your country which is valid at least six months from your date of entry into the European Union. It's not important where you arrive in the EU: You'll get checked on arrival once, and then you can travel freely within the EU member states. Some international flights will have a stop-over at Schiphol airport near Amsterdam, Netherlands, and customs checks will be done there. You're then forwarded to another plane that flys you to Germany. Depending on the airline, the stop-over may as well be in Dublin, Ireland, or Rome, Italy. Don't worry about that, just checkout the cheapest flight you can get. I flew business class once, and the food isn't any better, and I can sleep better in tourist class, where there's no steward to ask me every five minutes "can I do something for you, sir?".

Depends on your Nationality,

Be more specific please.

In case you are American citizen and you plan a visit of less than 90 days you will need no Visa.

If you are British you will need no Visa as UK is member of EU.

EDIT  for those who state no VISA required without knowing from which country the lady is  there are a lot of countries people need VISA to come to Germany!!!

if you are American .. yes if you want to stay longer than 3 months. otherwise if you go back to USA wherever you don't need one...xx
