Question:

I planted 2 rose bushes last year which seem to have died. this spring 2 new plants grew,but no buds have?

appeared. What should I do? I would love to see them bloom.

  1. Try planting a banana peel around each plant and the potassium int he peel will  help the roses.


  2. I'd say the plant grew from below the graft so you basically have some sort of a wild rose, so it may not be what you expect if it does bloom.

  3. if it's a grafted rose and the new growth is from the base or below ground, you have the root stock growing.  Root stock is used because it's hardy or disease resistant but not particularly worth growing for flowers, and may not even bloom.  Otherwise they'd just sell the root stock as a plant.  But to see what happens, just raise it like any other rose bush, water and fertilize.  

  4. Next time you make hamburger or a roast beef, dump the blood in a dish before cooking. Then mix it with water and poor it on the roots of your rose bushes.

    When we move in a place there was a rose bush already here. Year after year no roses. Then one year we got a couple buds that roted off before they got a chance to open. So I did some Internet research and found the info I just gave you. I tried it and the rose bush was soon loaded with roses.
