  1. i don't agree with your other answers so far, so let me just say that i think they grow fast.  besides some miracle gro and lots of water and sun, i'd say - trim the bottom branches [or leaves] so that there is just a little top crown.  this year, they are just stabilizing and taking hold.  trim as i explained and next year you should see a possible 3 feet.  trim upwards again next year and watch them go-grow!

  2. It took awhile for mine to grow in height, too. It seems as if they needed time to become well established. Try fertilizing more often with Miracle Grow and mild trimming to encourage growth.

  3. Boxwoods do grow very slowly.  That is the nature of the plant.

Fertilizer will not make them grow any faster.

  4. English boxwoods grow an average of an inch a year, so yours are doing great!

  5. Nothing.  Sounds like they are doing fine.  Boxwood does not grow fast.

  6. I don't see a problem.  Boxwoods are known to grow relatively slow.  I would say 6" in a year is unusually fast.

  7. Hi as a rule trees need about three years to get a good hold with their roots. In my experience I have found after three years the plant will enter a rapid growth period.I wouldn't worry, the growth you have in 0.5mtr is pretty good considering you transplanted 12 months ago it sounds like healthy growth, keep the fertiliser & water up during the hotter months & keep an eye on the leaves for disease if any cut off & take to your local Nurseryman.hope this helps your Boxwood. It may require the occasional cut back prune, depending on your area.
