yes, follow the rows. otherwise you don't pick up as much corn

how good a driver are you? if you planted your guess rows within a couple inches of perfect you won't even know the difference. To clarify guess rows are where one planter width matches up to the previous planter width.

If you planted straight, it will work.  On your headlands, you might have to take only four rows if you don't have 12 or 24.  Try it, and adjust your head height to the situation.

Yes, You may lose a little depending on how straight you planted your rows.  The way the the corn headers are designed on harvesters, you can even pick up most of the corn if you go across the rows.
