  1. Practice, practice, practice.  There's a saying - "Amateurs practice until they get it right; professionals practice until they can't get it wrong."  Work on your stroke and rhythm until it's rote, and your game consistency of your game should go up.

  2. well, when you are 21, drinking alot always seems to help :)

  3. The game of pool is a game of concentration.  Sometimes we concentrate too much on the hard shots and too little on the easy shots.  Remember to always chaulk your cue after every shot whille you are thinking of your next shot and the shot after that.  If you miss an easy one don't crumble just concentrate on your next inning.  And no fooling around while you are playing take the game seriously.

  4. Lack of consistency almost always stems from flawed stroke mechanics.  As George Fels put it, "A proper pool stroke is so simple that hardly anybody can do it".  I recommend getting lessons from a certified instructor so that you'll understand what it is that you are doing at the pool table.  Pool is part art and part science.  Too much of one or the other and you'll eventually run into trouble.  After taking lessons and becoming an instructor myself, I can safely say that my worst game now is still twice as good as my best game before the lessons.  Drinking will only hurt your game once you have real confidence in your ability.  M.D.-BCA Instructor/Referee.

  5. Don't give your all all the time, learn to pace yourself. I have always won at everything I've ever done because of consistence, I give 60% all the time while others seem to fluctuate between 80% to 20% and in the end I win. But I always have that 40% left if I need it in the end.

My best friend plays in leagues and gets banned from them occasionally for a short period of time so others can win. We've been playing each other for twenty years and he pisses me off because he just does it without even trying.

He's been trying to get me to play in leagues for the last five years or so but I haven't yet because I work so much but maybe one day.
