  1. all can advise is try and stay in the backs, you have  a lot of hard impacts on your body in the forwards. you can  play in the forwards when you older. you don't want to get to many injuries early.

that way you'll have a longer career, also make sure you get a good coach to teach you how to tackle properly, putting your head in the right position, timing etc, very important!! good luck hope you love IT.

  2. It more depends more on what you're good at.  You're about the same size as I was at that age and I played as a lanky five eighth but mainly because I could kick and evade and was fairly good at choosing gaps.  I was a pathetic tackle and I used to rely heavily on my half back (who went on to play for Australia) to cover me.  d**n he made me look way better than I was!

Aussie Rules players (as I was mostly) are usually pretty decent kicks and develop good passing skills.

If you're fast and can tackle one-on-one, then centres or even wing.  There was no way I could be isolated in a team - I could contribute to a tackle but ... one-on-one!  You're unlikely to become the build for a forward 'cept maybe as a light lock.

EDIT: And Conda's idea as full-back but then you'll have to be REALLY confident in a one-on-one tackle

But then, why not just stick to real football? :-)

  3. Try fullback or on the wing.As you get older you will fill out and maybee then you could step up to a 5/8 or hooker pos.

If your really keen bulk up and become a lock or 2nd row forward to get some good action.

  4. You should first of all head down to your local club and try out at a training session see if you like it and then join and your coach will but you in a suitable position

  5. your 60 kg huh? interesting I'm the same 175cm and I'm 50kg :D

err u should play in umm ask your teacher..lol, i think the reson your 10 kg heavier than me is becasue you play sports and i don't :D

  6. Speed is more critical in league than AFL, you sound like you could be a good fullback particularly if you catch the ball well and also it is a bonus if fullbacks can kick. Also as a fullback you have to leap high sometimes and take the ball cleanly.

If you are fast then fullback sounds really good or maybe in the centres.

If you are stronger than most 14 year olds then a coach might put you in the forwards. You would then basically run the ball up to the line and tackle heaps.

Playing in the forwards is tougher on your body whereas playing in the backline gives you more chance to show some flair and run the ball - all depends on where you see yourself playing. Maybe start at fullback and take it from there. Good luck.

  7. Smash a few kilos on and rip into the second row. Hammering someone in a good, clean tackle is more fun than scoring tries. Only setback is you end up like me. 32, knackered knees and a rough head. At the end of the day, the position doesn't matter. As long as your on the field with your mates playing the greatest game of all.
