Getting them cheap is ok but you really need to try them, to see if they fit your swing, most golf shops will let you practice instore and will fit them to your swing.

That is there is not much point in having a set of clubs if they are too short or too long

I'll second the recommendation on Rock Bottom Golf. They don't have everything, but the stuff they do have is usually much cheaper than anywhere else. They're also really good with giveaways and online coupons to sweeten the deal.
