  1. buy kneepads! i play volley all the time.

    i practice without kneepads.

    but use them during games.

after a while you will be able to dive all around the court with out yer knees hurting.

like when you first started playing volleyball....

yer arms were really soar and redish...

they needed to get used to it..

so just wear kneepads for now... and every once in a while practice without them. (:

  2. It depends what kind of pain you have in your knees.

If it is because you dive for the ball a lot, I would definitely suggest knee pads. Also, try to work on your diving form. Work with your coach, because when diving in volleyball, your knees actually shouldn't hit the floor (of course perfect form cannot always be used, and your knees will occasionally bang the floor; so if you are experiencing knee pain, knee pads are definitely a good idea).

If it is a soreness that you believe is from the high amount of jumping and quick lateral movements, then there are a few things to do. First of all, make sure you warm up your legs. This is soooo important in volleyball, and failure to do so will definitely cause pain in lots of places in your body. Make sure you jog before playing (with lateral slides and karaokes used too). Then stretch all of the muscles in your legs (especially your quads, hammies, and glutes if you are experiencing knee pain). Aside from warming up, it is probably a good idea to ice down your knees and ankles after playing volleyball for an extended period of time. Volleyball is really rough on your legs and you deserve to ease the pain after your hard work. If these steps don't stop your knee pain, definitely go see a doctor. You should always be safe, and a trip to the doctor isn't too tough, and he or she will definitely be able to solve your problem once and for all.

    Hope your knees feel better!

P.S. There are lots of different knee pads, so make sure you find ones that give you adequate padding, and at the same time allow you to keep the flexibilty that allows you to jump as high as you can. I always liked Mizunos.

  3. I play volleyball too and I have something called Tendinitis in my knees.  This is very common for tall people.  All you need to do is ice your knees and maybe do physical therapy if it is really bothering you.  Make your legs stronger by working out too. (especially your calves, quads, and glutes.) i dont know how to spell, sorry.

  4. go to doctor and put bandage on and put ice next

  5. knee pads!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

  6. i Had the same problem! I just started to wear better kneepads like costing arounf 30$. it really paid off. :) Hope that helps

  7. Hey iv been playing volleyball for a while now i and id like 2 say volleyball is one of the resons knee pads were invented.

its very painful not 2 were knee pads excpecialy when u dive for the ball

  8. when you play volleyball, you are supposed to were kneepads made for volleyball.

  9. Knee pads major!

  10. if it is just volleyball that hurts your knees then i would suggest you wear kneepads but if it is any sport then i think you may be running wrong or passing wrong.  I am not sure but i think your should probbly see a doctor if your knees arnt brused or anything on the outside.

  11. take advil or something before you play! i have the same problem

  12. Kneepads are very helpful.

  13. during practices or games, you should definitely wear kneepads. if the kind of pain is in the lower part of your kneecap (when you feel like your knee is giving way to the weight of your upper body), you should start wearing knee support as well. it's like an inch wide and there's a velcro so that you could wrap it around you knee. it works for me, i sure hope it works for you too.

    try those.. it'll heLp..

  15. I would try to figure out why your knees feel hurt first.

If you are not old enough, try not to go to the weight room. Sometimes I felt my knees were really sore but it turned out I put too much weight for my legs on some machines and eventually it got my knees to react.

If it is caused by your diving, or other on-court actions, you might want to consider a different pair of knee-pads, or try to figure out whether you should change your landing style after each block or spick. To answer your question regarding what to wear, Mizuno VS-1 kneepads are highly recommended. They don't just protect you from bouncing into the floor, but also help you get extra strength from your legs.

  16. knee pads help but go to your highschool trainer and ask him about it
