yes five foot nine may seem tall, but not in volleyball standards. I love the front and play MB and OH and want it to stay that way!

  1. First of all 5'9 isn't short for your age, and that's assuming your a guy.  Realistically, you would be way better off just working on strength training, and lots of work on fast twitch muscles etc.  I was your height in grade 11 (16 yrs old) but I had a 38 inch vertical so I could dunk a basketball, and I was crushing balls from power.  Your best bet is to look into a jump program, and do other core strengthening.  Plus, it always looks better when a short person is crushing balls.  Especially over a 6'3" middle.  If you grow then you grow, but if not you'll still be able to swing with the best of em for now.

  2. u-u-u-u ur so talllllll!! ish no fair. om 13...i play vollyball but *sniff*  im only five foot 2!!! WAAAAHH!

  3. vitamin A should help you ))

  4. You're 13!!! I am 14 and 5' 5"! I am the tallkest on my team.  You are the perfect size for volleyball.

  5. I don't know about increasing your height, but you could try to increase your vertical.

    1. One way is to do  calf raises.

    2. You could also buy a pair of ankle weights, they generally cost like 10 dollars. You can practice jumping and doing your approach with them on. Just be careful with them, because they can wear out your knees.

    3. Do lunges

    4. Run up stairs/bleachers.

  6. wow! your definetly a tall 13 yr old girl. drink milk, and sleep a lot. 5ft 9 wow for a 13 year old GIRL!

  7. your the tallest 13 year i know

  8. Ok i'm 4 "11" and i play volleyball and i am good so i wouldnt be complaining about your height your lucky!

  9. Eat your veggies.

  10. i would not care about what people say about my height if that is what i want to do then thats what im going to do.

    /kim/

  11. our grades volleyball coach is shorter than me. im 5'3 or 5'4. shes very short but an exceptional volleyball player. she was always the setter and really good at it. 5'9 is quite tall for our age. (im the same age as you) you'll be fine.

  12. There is no "theory"

Height is based on genetics and not just of your parents' heights combined divided by two.

  13. If you are five foot nine at 13, you will definitely grow taller, you haven't finished growing yet. Be patient and see what height you are when you are 18. I was short at 13 and then suddenly grew quite a few inches during my teenage years. You aren't finished "growing" yet. Meanwhile, do exercises on stretching your calf muscles, that will help you "JUMP" higher. And play well. And who knows? We may see you in the Olympics, which would be great. Please don't take growth hormones. Good healthy diet, lots of calcium and magensium (a must to help absord the calcium)

  14. You're 13, eat well and let nature take its course.

  15. hun you dont need to get any taller you are 5 9" i am 14 and i am 5 3" and i play volleyball if you can jump then 5 9" is a perfect height and there isnt really a way to get taller (i personally dont think even if doctors say otherwise) you have the genes you have take them at 5 9" (all theories that people come up with that say they will help you grow i think are completely lame and dont make any sense and i would never use s product that says it would help me grow so i would suggest that you dont either)

  16. I'm a guy, I'm 15 and I'm 5 foot 10 right now.  You can't change the rate that you grow at or how tall you will grow.  Everyone grows at different speeds, and if you have 2 tall parents, you can expect you'll grow more.  You're only 13, don't worry about it.

  17. maybe you could make up for it by working on your upper body strength, becoming faster and focusing on the ball. your team needs players who can get under the ball and make plays as well as those who can hit and spike!. work on your passing game too.

  18. I used to coach back in Rome, Italy, girls just like you. Do not take anything that might interfere with you health.

Practice harder on jumping higher. Thirty years ago the Cubans players were not very tall, but they shocked the world in the way they were jumping. It looked like they could float in the air before coming down again.. Absolutely spectacular!!

So go out there and shock them too!

  19. HAHA every1 on my team at skewl is dat tall

best of luck.my wishes to ya!

  20. stretch...a lot

it prolly wont make you "taller" but if you're more flexible and poisdd you can jump and reach higher and harder

  21. You'll grow more in high school. Most girls do. Then there are the wierd ones like me who were tall for 13, stopped growing at that age, and now they're short. But, that is a small percentage. Chances are, you will grow more.

Also, the tallerst girl I know is about 5'7", and she's 23, so you are already above average height for adults, so don't worry about it.

  22. eat your wheatees.

  23. that's a GREAT advantage!!!! dont you realize that? i'm 5'5", and i wish i was taller. being tall is all you need, teams need tall people to help them win, that's the key to a game.

  24. ha you have the same problem as i do

i'm 14 and not as tall as you

    i also play volleyball

    i am about 5'6''

so be thankful you're tall already

  25. Well volleyball will only last a few more years, so why would you want to be taller for the rest of your life?

  26. Hey! Are you calling me a midget? Just joking, but I am 13 and 5'4"....ya. I play setter though. I suggest that you just eat right and you most likely aren't done growing. But if you want to get EVEN higher, then really work on your vertical. I know several people shorter and older than you, who worked their butts off to stay in the front row and jump high, and they are now front row starters in a high level of volleyball. So just work hard, and stay healthy. Hope I helped!

  27. I'm 14 and 5"9 also, so i know how you feel, I'm a setter, and i was going to be an outsider hitter like my sis, who is 4 yrs older, but i could bearley hit a ball over (to short) now, i was 5"7 but in i started doing this thing, were all i wanted to eat were oranges, i dunno why, so in 3 months i grew  2 inches!!!! i know, weird huh? so, i dunno if it was the oranges or just my growth patterns, :~!

  28. well i think your lucky because im 14 and 5 foot 5 but i am still on the volley ball team, i doesnt matter if your short (it would help) but if you can do every thing good it shouldnt matter, the tallest person on my is probly 5 foot 6  so i not the tallest but neither the shortest. i really hope this helps good luck!!!!

  29. there is no natural way to grow taller, nothing that you eat actually makes you grow taller.

if you take growth hormones, they may have other side effects other than just making you taller.

you are still only 13 and you will grow more, most people grow until they are about 15 or 16.

dont worry to be a good volleyball player, you dont just have to be tall, you have to be able to jump high.

try practicing gymnastics to help you be able to achieve that.

  30. I've played volleyball for over 5 years (+2 club years) and right now I am shorter than you by a few inches and am still considered tall. So, you are tall.

You can't technically "get taller", but you can work on your vertical jump:

    *jump rope (fast, quick motions)

    *stretch out your leg muscles

*one thing my coach told me to do which is soo helpful is to walk on your tip-toes, it will make the back of your leg soo much stronger. its worked so far and I've gained a few inches on my vertical.

    Good luck!

  31. Growth hormones. Talk to your doctor.
